WINSOR STAR — July 11, 2019 — The 47-year-old lighting that expensively and inadequately illuminates Cullen Field ball diamond is being replaced.
“The system is dated and consumes a high amount of energy in order to properly light the fields,” says a report from city parks staff recommending a new LED system to replace the 1,500-watt metal-halide light fixtures.
The old lighting system no longer meets requirements to host tournaments. The new system meets or exceeds standards for Class A baseball and will allow for games to be televised or streamed, the report says. The ball diamond is in Mic Mac Park.
