WINDSOR/ESSEX COUNTY SPORTS HALL OF FAME
March 4, 2020 — The Windsor Stars baseball teams have long been a force at the local, provincial and national levels. Led by the coaching tandem of Keith Sanford and Ron Smith, the Stars won their first national title in 2000. But it was the period from 2008-2013 that their dominance at the national level was most felt.
In 2008 and 2009 the Stars took home the bronze and in 2012 they captured the silver. In 2011 and 2013 this team reached the top of Canadian baseball by winning it all as Canadian champs. These teams were let by pitchers, Steve Teno, Steven Carter and hitters Thomas Grubb and Kris Klassen.
The Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to recognize the Windsor Stars for their two national championships and six years of excellence at the nation level.
